A Mini Getaway

This past Easter weekend, my family and I decided to go to The Port down in Ventura.  Basically it's a Navy base that we go to every so often to get away from the smog that's suffocating us here in Los Angeles.   It's about a two hour drive and originally we were going to stop at Neptunes Net, which, if any of you remember (or watched it), was the restaurant that was constantly being featured in Mary-Kate and Ashley's show So Little Time.  Once we got there, however, it was so crowded and it wasn't the way I thought it would be, so I told my mother I would just come here another day with my friends.

Once we got to the base, we immediately headed to the beach.  What's kinda cool about this military base is that there's an access to the beach right on it which is very rare.  It makes it more quiet and not as crowded.  David had a blast running in and out of the water.  He swore he saw an eel too (it was a stick).  Although I had to keep DeLancey on her leash, which she hated, she had a good time sunning herself.  And of course, in the beginning I was trying to juggle three cameras and my dog so I could take photos of the memories.  After awhile though, I decided to just put my cameras down and enjoy the beach.

After that we went shopping (I posted a picture of everything I bought on Instagram!)  Then we had dinner, went back to the hotel and relaxed.  Sunday we woke up and went to church.  I'm not religious, but there are certain times during the year where I'll go to church because my mother likes us to go as a family, and those times are usually Easter and Christmas.  So we all went to church on base.  After that, it was time to pack up the car and head home!

It was a very fun getaway and being at the beach makes me so excited to finally get on the plane soon and head to Hawaii!

I hope everyone had a great Easter!

Happy Easter! -What Are You Thankful For?

I thought since today was Easter and most of us are spending time with family and loved ones, I would tell you all what I am most thankful for.  First and foremost, I am thankful that I am healthy.  True, we all have issues, but all my limbs are attached, my eyesight is fine and I can speak and express myself freely.  Secondly, my family-which I don't always get along with, but I know I would be miserable without.  I'm happy that I live in a country where I have free will and that women  have more opportunities than in other countries.  I'm thankful for my animal.  I never thought that I would get the best (literally the best) dog in the world only paying $20 for her.  Obviously, I'm thankful for all the big things in my life that allow me to keep up with my blogging/my craft-my Nikon DSLR, my point and shoot, my vanity, my MacBook and my iMac.  Those are such material things but without them I wouldn't be able to blog how I want to.  That being said, lastly, I am thankful for the skills I have acquired throughout the years-mostly writing, makeup and photography-the things I am most good at.

I hope that you are thinking of the things that you are grateful for today.  Such a cliche thing to say, but you are all very blessed

Till next time-

Pretty in Pink

Spring is here, and because of that, my life has been seeing a lot of pink lately (who am I kidding-it sees pink year around-this just gives me another excuse to talk about it ;).  I purchased Essie's creamy, pastel Fiji awhile ago and now it's back in my life as I've fallen in love with it all over again.  After seeing this Victoria's Secret pink and white striped case on another blog, I immediately added it to my basket.  I just adore the candy cane design.  I don't really read the magazine Nylon a lot-I usually drift more towards Cosmo, Allure, and Glamour, but after being in beauty school, I decided it was best to keep up on makeup trends, therefore branching out and reading other magazines.  Plus, Sienna Miller looks fabulous on the cover.

Have you been drifting towards any pretty spring like things lately?
