Wishlist!

Current Wishlist 4.15.14

It's been awhile since I have done a beauty wishlist, so I decided to show you all what I am lusting after these days.

First off, Chanel has just released their newly Perfection Lumiere Velvet Matte Foundation.  I recently bought the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation (see here), and I just fell completely in love, totally neglecting the rest of my foundation.  The V.A. is more of a dewey finish whereas the P.L.V. is a matte finish.  For someone who has a combination/oily skin type, I just have to add it to my collection.

Although it has been out for awhile, and is limited edition, I still have my eye on the Bobbi Brown Nectar & Nude Eye Palette.  I already own the Old Hollywood and the Rich Chocolate palette, so my heart is aching to own this one.

My makeup teacher back in school introduced me to Kevyn Aucoin's Sensual Skin Enhancer.  Not only did she say that it was a remarkable concealer, but everyone else I talk to agrees.  It's a bit pricey for a concealer, but who am I to turn down a makeup product that has great back to back to back reviews? ;)

The Bumble & Bumble Creme De Coco collection seems to be right up my alley.  I have read that it is great for women with frizzy hair, and the coconut and murumuru butters helps to hydrate.  The only reason why I have not purchased this yet is because out of all my beauty routines, my hair is the least that I care about.  I never get it cut, I never get it deep conditioned, and I just feel like makeup and my nails are more important.  So when I saw how much the collection was at as a whole I immediately ran the other way.   One day I will purchase it though.  One day.

Upon clicking around on the Victorias Secret website, I came a cross this very adorable striped train case.  The more makeup that I purchase, the more "essentials" I seem to have when I go on a trip (let's be real though-aren't they all essentials?).  I've outgrown the makeup travel bag that I have now, so this would be great to have.

I recently discovered the Soleil Tan De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid over on the beautiful, Victorias', blog.  Before, I was obsessed with getting my hands on the Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzing Base, but after reading what Victoria had to say about the Illuminating Fluid, I can honestly say that I have had a change of heart.  I used to own the Clinique Up-Lighting Liquid Illuminator, and I just loved the glowing effect that it gave my skin when I mixed it in with my foundation.

Last but not least, while reading Make-Up Artist Magazine, the Laura Mercier Radiance Bronze Foundation Primer immediately caught my eye.  It's loaded with vitamin E and claims to give a "sheer, sun-lit warmth" to the face.

Have you tried any of these products?  What do you think?

xx.

A Weekend Away at the Ranch

Hi lovelies!

If you have been following me for awhile, then you know that my family owns a ranch up near Yosemite National Park.  Well on Thursday, my family and I decided to go up there to take a break from the big city.

It's about a six hour drive, so we got there pretty late on Thursday.  Basically just fell right asleep.  Friday morning, my brother, Grandmother and I went into the city to run errands.  In the afternoon we kinda just lazed about and relaxed (I napped).

Saturday, my aunt came up to have lunch with us.  We kinda walked around the ranch, just to be outside in the nature.  At night, we had a dinner event to go to for the hospital (my great grandfather and great grandmother were big in donating to them).

Sunday morning we started packing to go back to LA.  The rest of my family went to lunch at another event, and I stayed at the house to pack up the food and the rest of our stuff before picking them up.

I very much liked being away from the city and although I was ready to leave the ranch, I definitely wasn't ready to come back to LA.  Lately, I've been really tiring of all the hustle and bustle that comes with living here.  I think that because I'm getting older and exiting the whole "party phase," I'm looking for simpler lifestyle.  But hey, that's a post for another day. :)

Have you ever been to Yosemite?  How did you like it?  Would you like to go someday?

Happy Birthday, Bobbi Brown!

Of course, with Bobbi Brown being one of my favorite makeup artists (along with Charlotte Tilbury, Pat McGrath, and a few others), and the fact her products were the first high end makeup brand that I tried (and loved!) when I was 15 years old, I just had to do a short blog post about her-wishing her a happy birthday.

I doubt that she'll ever see this but I couldn't not post something after reading her books and learning new tricks and tips about makeup.  I especially love Living Beauty, where she really encourages women to live without so much plastic surgery and to have more realistic expectations of yourself as you age.  That just because you are 50 doesn't mean you aren't beautiful.

"Too many women of my generation feel bad about the fact that they're no longer young.  These women have a laundry list of things they don't like about themselves-wrinkles, baggy eyelids, a too-small upper lip...I could go on for days.  These women are so caught up in the negative that they don't have any energy left to focus on the positive."

"I believe there needs to be a fundamental change in the way we think about beauty.  We can either fall into this cycle of self-loathing, or we can empower ourselves with the knowledge to deal with the things that make us unhappy.  Aging should be seen as a process through which a woman can gain more vitality, strength, wisdom, and a new sense of her beauty."

Who wouldn't love a woman who speaks like that?  Who encourages you to love yourself more in a world full of itty bitty models and big busted Playboy ladies?

So, best birthday wishes, Mrs. Brown.  I sure hope that I become just as talented as you one day!
